In our last edition of Meet the Reputation.com Team, we introduced you to MyEdge Account Manager Casey Camilleri. This week, say hello to Internet marketing expert Surj Gish.

Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Surj Gish, and I’m Manager of Internet Marketing. I primarily focus on new customer acquisition through search, online advertising, email, and affiliates.
What did you do prior to joining Reputation.com?
I have a broad background in online marketing and e-commerce, including time at PeopleFinders.com, SkinStore.com, and some other smaller online retailers. I’ve done consulting work in paid and organic search as well.
What attracted you to Reputation.com?
I believe in the mission of Reputation.com. I have first hand experience dealing with privacy and online reputation concerns. Working in the people search world exposed me to a lot of issues around privacy and personal data that I think aren’t well understood by most people. Also, because of a friend’s SEO prank gone wrong, I had an intimate understanding of what it takes to deal with unwanted content on the web.
People don’t always understand – or even consider – the intricacies of privacy settings, shared information, and “personal” data, or that potential employers now “review your resume” by seeing how you look in a Google search. I want to be a part of helping people understand and address these things.
Why do you think it’s important for people to manage their reputations online?
I think it can be simplified into this: people are judged and decisions are made based on online information. It’s about control. I think it’s up to you to establish, and maintain – or repair and improve – your online reputation.
When you’re not helping individuals control and protect their good names online, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I play guitar, and I’m kind of an art geek. I’m also something of a gearhead, just about anything with wheels on it gets my blood pumping, but I’m mostly into motorcycles these days. Perhaps ironically, I’m also an avid no-car commuter – I get to work every day through some combination of bicycle, train, bus, and sneakers. Finally, I’ve been known to play some cards now and then.
What’s your all-time favorite website?
I’m a total Craigslist junkie, and I spend a lot of time on BARF – bayarearidersforum.com.
