Did Mark Zuckerberg Miss His Own Memo?

facebook zuckerberg

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg found himself in the embarrassing position of losing his own Facebook privacy yesterday when private pictures from his Facebook profile were made public as part of Facebook’s new privacy settings changeover. In addition to his pictures, Zuckerberg’s event calendar was also left open to the public. Before Zuckerberg and the Facebook team could revert the profile to its private status, blogger Kashmir Hill grabbed screenshots of the account. The gossip hounds at Valleywag picked up on the story soon after, opting to share 15 of their favorite pictures, including some of the CEO lounging shirtless with friends and “looking plastered.”

While Zuckerberg’s account is normal now, it’s sort of mind-blowing that the CEO of the company would allow his profile to go from private to public so easily. If “The Zuck” can’t stay on top of his privacy controls, what should we expect from regular users? The fact is, despite our early approval of Facebook’s privacy changes, the way the company has executed the changes leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully, Facebook can correct its mistakes and help its users finally  begin protecting their private information and their personal identities in a meaningful way.
