Glamorizing Drinking on Facebook Could Come Back to Haunt You

We spend a lot of time on the Reputation.com Blog talking about how inappropriate material posted on Facebook, MySpace and other social networking sites can cause tremendous damage to an individual’s future school or career plans. With the increasing number of web savvy hiring managers and admissions officers, if something harmful about you is publicly accessible on the Internet, the odds are increasing likely that it will be found. Despite this growing trend, however, there are still tens of thousands of people who not only maintain inappropriate material, but flaunt it openly.

One Facebook group in particular, “30 Reason Girls Should Call It A Night” posts thousands of pictures of young women in various states of inebriation, from slightly drunk to completely intoxicated. Showing them stumbling, vomiting or just plain unconscious, these photos might seem funny at first, but could have lasting repercussions if not properly managed. Once this type of material is posted, it can be easily replicated and could quickly wind up being too big of a problem to manage oneself.

At Reputation.com, we believe that you should be the person controlling your online reputation. As the recognized leader in online reputation management, Reputation.com’s full suite of personal reputation and privacy products provide the best means possible to defend your good name on the Internet.
